cubes. glass cubes, lined so even they are almost revolting. rows of machines inside, humming. lights glare overhead, clinical and sterile. a single hexahedron sits quiet and dark among them. the silver machines within are silent. the air is still. frigid. a sole monitor flickers to life. soft white glow, gently illuminating. the shadows creep as far as they can, swallowing. a familiar blue box appears on the screen. workspace follows. the gray stylus twitches. icy fingers clutched tight. all around, voices echo and resonate from the surrounding rooms. swallowed and stifled by the night of this place. the harsh lights cannot reach here. i feel safe. a sanctuary. bliss.

the worst weakness of all. i hate it. especially how easily it appears when no one else is there. how easily it is provoked. did everything just fall apart? showing any sign of vulnerability makes you an easy target. i can't do anything about it can i? i dont know what to do when people behave so contradictorily. even if i ask, i won't get an answer, will i? whatever it used to be, has already withered to nothing, hasn't it? i saw budgies kissing today. i hope the yellow one gets better soon, Ange. ;__; parrot fever oh noes. why can't things just go back to the way they used to be? what the hell is happening now? i don't get any of it at all. i hate being like this. it hurts.

 click ^ Chris Riddell is the first illustrator whose works i ever fell in love with. when i picked up Scribbleboy in the library when i was 12 and flipped the pages, i was hooked. until now, i haven't stopped reading his books. i'm still hooked on The Edge Chronicles, a collaboration between Riddell and Paul Stewart. engaging and vivid storyline, accompanied by detailed inked illustrations, is absolute love. and win. thus today, i finally managed to find the missing book i've never read in the series, and i totally devoured it. and now i have been informed by Wiki that there is to be one last book, called The Immortals, coming out in feb 2009. omagwttttttttttttttttttt. yes, that was a random not-so-fun fact of my ordinary life. enjoy.
