does GPA really matter, especially in our industry? how does having a higher GPA make you more qualified than the next person? personally, i don't think it tells me much at all. yes, okay, great, wow, you have awesome grades, but, so what? in my absolutely humble opinion, everything stems from your portfolio and your personality. i think they kind of go hand in hand. no one wants to really work with a douchebag, no matter how kickass his work is, right..? of course, i'm not using this as a justification for bad results. i know that some form of academic achievement is required to obtain whatever certification it is we need, but ultimately, even if you're a high school dropout, you can climb your way to the top without a whole bunch of degrees to prove your worth. i don't think i'm in a position to say all these, but it's just my puny two cents worth. i think i would be really insulted if i heard that people say that so-and-so deserve a position more than anyone else. [not because i feel i deserve it more or what, mind] deserve? what the hell. no one deserves anything. we've all got equal fighting chances, and i don't believe anyone has got more rights to anything, especially if said person has what, better academic scores? connections? more money? who gives a shit. i don't know if industry people actually look at your pile of creditations, but i think they care more about your skills and attitude. really. rarghghghgh okay just feeling kind of crabby for a friend. and i know i'm not exactly qualified to be ranting when i don't know the clockwork enough, but yadah yadah whateverzxzxzxz. don't mind me. it's all just personal. |
the round one.
Just your average human specimen wanting to be something more. Also has an absurd fondness for potatoes and shoes, among other things.
