views on adultery came up recently in a conversation i had - sensitive topic i know. i didn't have a lot to say at that time, because i have never had to discuss it, and i wouldn't know what it's like. but later, i had time to think about it, and how it affects people. to me, extramarital affairs are one of the worst things you can ever do as a human being. committing adultery is a complete and utter betrayal of your spouse and your family, no matter what the reason may be. those vows you took years ago don't mean shit. if you say you love him/her, there's no justification for what you did. love? you obviously didn't love them, weren't thinking of them when you did what you did. this would be one of the hardest things to forgive if it ever did happen, if you could even find forgiveness in you. and how does a family pick up the pieces after that? how do you face your children and your spouse with that guilt and shame? i just hope this will never happen to me, because i wouldn't know what to do. |
